Starting at the National Museum of the American Indian, this unique walking tour retraces the footsteps of Manhattan's beginnings. The first leg begins at Bowling Green, where the city's infrastructure was built by enslaved Africans, and concludes at Wall St, where they were once sold. Moving on to the Financial District, the second leg of the tour follows Wall St up to Federal Hall, a site next to a free African who owned and operated the famous Oyster House in 1825. The final leg takes us to the Brooklyn Bridge and the African Burial Ground National Monument plaza. This tour is ideal for groups, team-building, field trips, and especially educational for school-age children. Snack breaks can be taken as needed, and each location corresponds to a chapter in the tour guide's book. Restrooms are available at multiple stops. Please be aware that parking is notoriously challenging in Lower Manhattan, with indoor garages costing between $35-40. Public transportation or car services are recommended.
